VIPERS RELEASE 2007 SCHEDULE

The Calgary Vipers today released their 2007 Northern League schedule.

The Vipers will start the 2007 season on the road in Joliet, Illinois and travel to face the defending champion Fargo-Morehead RedHawks before returning to revamped Foothills Stadium.

The home opener for the third year club will be Friday, May 25 against Joliet. Following a four game series with the JackHammers the Vipers will host the Gary-Southshore Railcats for three games.

The Vipers then head to Winnipeg for a three game series and return home for nine games at Foothills in a 10 day span.

“This is an excellent schedule from our perspective”, said Vipers president Peter Young. “We open on the road, play a Canada Day Weekend series at home and are not scheduled at home during the entire Calgary Stampede. We also have nine home games against our provincial rivals from Edmonton and ten against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.”

The 2007 schedule will see a change in game times on Saturdays. The eight Saturday games will now see a start time of 5:05 pm. “After consulting our field manager, Mike Busch and director of corporate sales and marketing, Perry McGeough we decided this would be a better start time”, said Young. “We tried 7 o’clock starts in our first season and 1:35 pm starts in year number two but we’re listening to our fans who indicated they would still like a good portion of Saturday evenings for social activities following our games.”

The Vipers will also host two Wireless Wednesday’s featuring 12:35 pm starts for a Business Special on June 13 and a Back to School Special on August 22. Thirsty Thursday’s which became popular late in the 2006 season will return on six occasions in 2007.

Improvements to Foothills Stadium continue with the bleacher seats being removed over the next two weeks. Chairs and Hospitality Boxes will replace the existing bleachers with new chairs replacing the existing ones in the spring.

Following the Calgary Dinos fall season the Vipers grounds crew will be adding sod to the infield which has been enlarged over the past decade.

The Vipers 2007 Schedule could still see moderate changes following the release of the Calgary Stampeders 2007 schedule.
