Long Beach scored the game's first runs in the top of the second inning as Octavio Martinez singled, Dan Trumble walked, David Ramirez doubled in a run, and Mike Glomb singled for a second tally. Steve Moss capped off the inning with a two run double for the 4-0 advantage.
The Vipers cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third with a Jorge Mejia single and Carlos Duncan's sixth homerun of the season for the 4-2 score.
Calgary tied the game in the bottom of the fourth frame thanks to a Colin Moro double, Jorge Tang single, and a Patrick Arlis perfect run batted in bunt single. Nelson Castro followed with a clutch two out RBI base knock for the 4-4 game.
In the bottom of the sixth inning the Snakes took their first lead when Castro smacked his eighth long ball of the season. Travis Drader and Carlos Duncan laced back-to-back doubles for another run and the 6-4 lead.
Back came Long Beach in the top of the seventh when with two outs Ryan Lehr doubled off starter Evan Greusel to chase him from the game. In came Jon Huizinga and Brett Flowers plated a run with a base hit. Following a Martinez single to move Flowers to third base he scored on a passed ball to tie the game at six. Greusel lasted six and two third innings while walking only one and striking out five.
The Armada retook the lead in the top of the ninth inning with a leadoff solo homerun by Norm Hutchins. An insurance run was scored for the 8-6 lead when Flowers singled, moved to second base on a throwing error, to third on a Martinez single, and scored on a Trumble sacrifice fly.
P.J. Bevis (1-2) was saddled with the loss giving up the two runs in the ninth. Garrett Murdy (2-0) picked up the win with two hitless innings and Wayne Foltin (1) recorded his first save with a scoreless ninth inning.
