With the game tied at three in the top of the fifth inning the Winnipeg Goldeyes scored four times on their way to a 7-3 win over the Calgary Vipers at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. The Goldeyes jumped out to the 3-0 lead but the Vipers showed some moxie tying the game up before Winnipeg took their second and final lead of the game. Brett Lawson went a strong seven innings in picking up the win going seven innings giving up only four hits and three runs while striking out four as well.
Fehlandt Lentini led off the game reaching on a fielder error by Manabu Kuramochi. Lentini then stole second and took third on a throwing error by Mitch Evans and was promptly brought home by a Cameron Coughlan groundout.
The Goldeyes added to the lead in the second inning with a Antoin Gray swinging-bunt single and after moving to third on a hit he scored on a Scott Schade groundout. Max Poulin then tripled home Luis Alen to push the lead to 3-0.
Calgary fought back though in the bottom half of the second with Jason Colson, after a lead off walk, eventually scoring on a Jorge Tang groundout.
In the third inning the Snakes mounted a two out rally getting a single from Nelson Castro, a hit by pitch to Carlos Duncan, and a walk, again, to Colson to load the bases. Evans delivered a clutch single to center field to plate two and tie the game at three.
It stayed tied until the top of the fifth when Winnipeg's Poulin led off with a double and Lentini walked. Coughlan grabbed his second RBI of the night with a single and was followed by a Jimmy Hurst sacrifice fly to make it 5-3. Antoin Gray singled to score Coughlan and with Calgary starter Tom Lyons chased from the game Ryan Klatt balked to plate the fourth run of the inning and making it 7-3 Fish. Lyons went four and a third innings giving up eight hits, seven runs, and walking two for the loss.
Randy Rapp of the Goldeyes closed out the final two innings giving up just two hits and fanning one.
Calgary's bullpen was solid with Klatt, Geoff Freeborn, and Daivis Burguillos combining for the final four and two thirds allowing no runs with Klatt striking out four in his two and two third innings of work.
Darryl Brinkley singled to extend his hitting streak to 20 games but unfortunately Drew Miller did not reach base to end his 20 game streak.
