ALEXANDER PICKS UP THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

Jordy Alexander allowed only two runs and struck out eight as the Calgary Vipers defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 4-2 in front of 1892 fans at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. Alexander went six and a third innings, tossing 110 pitches and scattering seven hits while walking only one batter for his fourth win of the season. The Vipers with the victory move two games ahead of Winnipeg, who play tonight, for first place in the North Division with six games remaining.

In the bottom of the first inning Drew Miller gathered his tenth hit of the series with a single up the middle. With two outs Jason Colson hammered his eighth homerun out to left-centerfield for runs batted in 35 and 36 of the year to give Calgary a 2-0 lead.

Kansas City got a run back in the third inning as Rob Watson doubled and with two outs Calvin Pickering singled him home to cut the lead in half at 2-1.

The turning point of the game came in the fifth inning when the T-Bones put their first two men on for hitters three, four, and five. But Alexander was able to strike out Mario Delgado, Al Benjamin, and Pickering in a row to end the threat with no one scoring.

Right after that in the bottom of the inning Jorge Tang doubled and Manabu Kuramochi singled to put runners at the corners with nobody out. Darryl Brinkley followed with his 44th RBI of the season to cash the eventual game winning run and Carlos Duncan knocked in Kuramochi with his 36th run batted in to make the game 4-1.

In the seventh inning after another Watson double Alexander exited the game for Ryan Olson. With two outs Benjamin singled to left field to finish off the scoring in the game at 4-2.

From there Olson shut down the T-Bones, going two and two thirds of an inning, allowing three hits in picking up his fourth save of the season.

Brinkley, Colson, and Duncan now are the top three in the Northern League for runs batted in at 44, 36, and 36 respectively. Kuramochi continued his hot streak going two-for-two with a run scored.
