The Calgary Vipers hit three long balls but it was not enough in their 13-5 loss over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, North Dakota. The RedHawks used three big innings to score 12 of their 13 runs and in the process handed the Vipers their third straight defeat.Fargo-Moorhead got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
Calgary responded and tied the game at one in the top of the fourth on Kyle Nichols' 12th home run of the season.
In the bottom of the inning the RedHawks put up four runs for a 5-1 lead.
The Vipers fought back in the top of the sixth coming within one run with a Jason Colson and Nichols walk. Mitch Evans followed by blasting his second bomb of the season to make the score 5-4.
The RedHawks however came right back in the bottom of the inning and put the game away with a five run inning and the 10-4 game.
Drew Miller hit his sixth blast of the season in the top of the eighth inning for Calgary's fifth and final run.
Fargo-Moorhead added even more insurance in the bottom of the inning scoring three more time to close out the scoring at 13-5.
This series continues Saturday at 6:00 PM (MDT) and then on Sunday the game is at 12:00 PM (MDT). Ryan Klatt will start on Saturday night.
