OFFENCE STALLS IN SERIES DEFEAT

The Calgary Vipers lost the rubber match of a three game series to the Schaumburg Flyers by a score of 5-2 at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Illinois. The Vipers managed only four hits on the evening after collecting just five the night before in losing both games. The offence as a team also struck out a season high 14 times. Jimmy Hurst continued to be a thorn in the Snakes side with four runs batted in on the game.

Schaumburg scored right away in the bottom of the first with a Anthony Monegan walk, Mike Rohde single, and Hurst RBI base knock.

The lead changed hands in the next half inning with a Kyle Nichols single, Nelson Castro double, and Shaun Ashman walk to load the bases. Jorge Tang tied the game with a RBI fielder's choice and after a Manabu Kuramochi base on balls, Drew Miller also walked for a run batted in and the 2-1 lead.

In the fifth inning the Flyers retook the lead. Bryce Morrison walked, Alex Derhak singled, and Rohde was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With two outs Hurst cleared the bases with a three run double for the 4-2 score.

An insurance run was added in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Pat O'Sullivan solo homerun for the three run 5-2 lead.
